Kiribati This tiny republic in the middle of the Pacific Ocean became independent just a few decades ago. Today it is a satellite tracking base, and a thriving resort. Especially the Chirstmas Island contains a rich birdlife and wild life sanctuaries where you can enjoy the peaceful nature.
